According to the Oklahoma Foster Care Task Force, respite care is identified as the greatest unmet service needs to foster families. SeekingSitters is working to build Foster Support through respite care fund and resources for foster and adoptive families. Respite care involves short term or temporary care for a few hours or weeks, designed to provide relief to the regular caregiver.
Starting locally in our corporate office community of Tulsa, OK, we are working to bring awareness to our services as a respite care option. We are working to build a respite care fund through donations and matching funds. This fund will support foster families and the children.
This mission is close to our heart as our family has grown through adoption and we personally know the needs of the foster and adoptive families. We personally understand how difficult it is to find approved respite care as well as on-demand care as you are supporting foster children. We will work with the foster families and our connections at DHS to provide approved respite care on-demand.
